say cheese

I don't know about you but, I am so glad that photography has come a long way from "say cheese". You know, the stiff, wide smile, perfectly-posed, fist-on-the-chin portraits? barf. i think that is why i like photographing kids so much - it's almost impossible to control them; they will automatically and authentically be themselves with out worrying whether or not you "captured their best side". I like the raw emotions, sometimes even the unattractive ones, because they are real. I must say, in my life, i have always had a distaste for all things "cheesy". In fact, in recent years, I actually do get physically sick when eating cheese so, you could say it is an all around good move on my part.

I took pictures of this little boy at the birthday party last weekend. He was so darn cute, I just had to share!
