Christmas card out-takes 2012
Chris is taking his last written board exam today. Woop Woop! Only one more clinical boards to go before he graduates in May. The last 3.5 years he has studied hard - usually so hard he winds up getting sick. He puts in the time and work for our future and I couldn't be more grateful. I couldn't do what he does. He is pretty rad, that guy.
We have plans to get ourselves some pasta and Italian pastries tonight when he finishes. A real treat. It will be a good kick-off to the Christmas fun we have planned. I am so looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the season together. Bring it on!
On a slightly different note, I wanted to say like so many, my heart has been heavy this past week. I don't think pregnancy hormones and tragic news mix so well. I have felt so much pain for the families in Connecticut and those who have suffered the same tragedy across the nation. I have wondered how I am supposed to bring an innocent child into this uncertain world. How can I protect him and give him a childhood like mine? And, if something scary does happen, will I show the same amount of insane courage as the hero's from these stories?
I am quietly reminded that fear does not come from a good place. This scripture from the Bible keeps coming to my mind:
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. My hope is that peace will rule the earth this holiday and in the new year. I couldn't think of a more important time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the ultimate example of love. I plan to commit once again to try a little harder to emulate His light.
May you have a safe and beautiful holiday with the ones you love.

I love this post. As I read that you wondered if something bad happened if you would show the same courage as those this past week, I felt comfort because I have been wondering the same thing. And, of course, I know you would show that courage. Thanks for being real. You and your words are beautiful!
Wonderful, Katie. My post runs along the same lines today.
You look wonderful. Merry Christmas.
=)
really beautiful post:)
i loved this post. thank you for sharing the scripture. "I have overcome the world." It's true the righteous and good will prevail, and I love that. It makes me happy. You guys are cute. I'm so glad you're going to get some down time together away from studies and all that jazz. It pays off to work hard--you guys are awesome.
