The Pursuit of Happiness

I’ve been thinking a lot about happiness this week; where it comes from and how to keep it no matter what happens in my life.

I’ve had some disappointments lately, even times where I’ve had to stop and catch my breath.   I’ve realized I wasted a lot of time waiting for something. Waiting patiently for my turn.  Watching everyone else wave as they pass me by.  I wanted so much to join them.

But, I can’t. I’m not meant to. I’m supposed to take a different route.  A road no shorter or bumpier but one that is all my own.

And, I can be happy now, along the way, as I continually carve out new dreams.

I am happy because I know who I am. I am happy because I have so much to be grateful for. I am happy because I feel loved.  I am happy because I love what I do. I am happy because I work hard. I am happy because I am a good person. I am happy because I share my talents. I am happy because I choose to be.

Great post.

I have always struggled to be happy, but I realized with experience, that happiness comes from within us. We can't depend on circumstances, people, things or anything to make us happy. It's all on us. We're responsible for our own state of mind.

I love what you said. I wish I'd known that when I was your age - I'd be a lot further along in progression than I am now. But I am making strides and I, too, choose to be happy. And special thanks from me for sharing your talents.

Hi, I just found you via Colour Me Katie. This was the first post I came across and it was like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes we do get stuck waiting for something that may not ever come. Thanks for this perspective, keep thinking happy thoughts :)
