Dress Stress

There is a reason why the words "dress" and "stress" are only three letters different.

We are attending a swanky function over 4th of July weekend. Amy, my best friend from high school, is getting hitched in Lake Tahoe, CA. Naturally, I had to find a dress. The dress had a few rules: It had to be modest, not too fancy but not too casual, make me look like I have improved since high school, and one that wouldn’t completely ruin Amy’s forever wedding photos. I soon found out this was no simple task.

I exhausted all of Utah county's retail stores, ordered a few times online and even tried stores like “the dress barn” that I normally wouldn’t consider. (No offense to those who shop there…but come on, do they have to call it a dress BARN?) Still, I had no luck. Some words to describe the many dresses I tried-on would be: lipstick stained, too tight, too boring, too revealing, tent-like, too short, and mostly deceiving.

But in the end, I feel I have conquered the impossible and came across one that could work. I thought it would be fun to see which one you think I chose, or which one you would choose. Two of them were online purchases described above and the other is the one I will be wearing. (Just so there is no confusion, each dress can be altered to be modest.) You will see my dress pick in an upcoming post. Please vote above or comment below, or both!

Here they are:
Dress A

Dress B

Dress C

I love the second one and i'm guessing that one just because i know you love green! However, i'm really impressed that you were able to find three really cute ones. They are all super cute. And i can totally sympathize ... i hate dress shopping!!

I want to know too! I was thinking the green one but I'm not totally sure. You'll have to keep us posted.

On the same note, you could wear a burlap bag and still look hot you lucky girl.

There's this website called shabbyapple.com that has really cute dresses if you're ever stressing in the future.

I love them all! You couldn't go wrong. I do have a hunch though, and I voted. Have so much fun in Tahoe, and I want a full detailed report of the wedding! Love ya

Cute! I love them all. I know how you feel. Whenever Drew has a law firm dinner or law school fancy function I stress. First I stand out as it is, I'm 6.1 and I was usually pregnant. Not fun. Good luck. You'll look beautiful in any of these dresses.

How fun! OK, I know that it's stressful for you; but that sounds like lots of fun, still. My life has little focus on me right now, so that sounds fantastic to go and shop for dresses. Mind you that I don't like the reminders of sizing and fitting that go along with it. You, however, have the blessings of a goddess and could pull anything off. Can't wait to see your future post!

I voted for B, but who are we kidding? you are going to look terrific in any of them. But what the heck is Chris gonna wear?
My advice is to tell Chris he is not invited, put on that dress, take off your wedding ring and see if you still got it. It's harder to pull off when your pregnant (just ask Ash) so take advantage of the opportunity.

hmmm. Poll closed too soon, but my initial reaction was the green on you- classic. But after really analyzing it I would have said the first dress because of the different textures, great neckline, sleeves already attached (na hassles), and higher waistline. Fun!
