10 items or less

I was reminded today about a pet-peeve of mine. I ran into Wal-mart to get a couple ingredients for a salad: an avocado, a ‘Spring mix” lettuce package, and a red onion. I was ready to check-out and surveyed my options. Either the regular long line with carts packed to the brim, self-check-out which seemed to be a viable option except I had produce and I was not in the mood to be told by a computer that I hadn’t added my purchase to the plastic bag when, clearly I had! Finally, I settled on the “10 items or less” line thinking this would provide a speedy get-a-way. After ten minutes of not moving I glanced at the 2 people in front of me, all with items definitely exceeding 10. To keep myself from pointing out their obvious mistake, I decided to hide my annoyance with counting exactly how many items they had. 1,2,3…10…15...21 ITEMS! Are you kidding me?! Is it really so difficult to just glance at your cart and identify your role at the check-out station? Was I the only one not okay with this? Of course, I kept my mouth shut... unlike the offender, I wouldn’t want to be rude! Really, I didn’t have to say anything, it was written all over my face.

This is so funny katie! I hate having to wait forever for just a few things. Smiths is the worst...they'll have 20 people in each line and only two lines open! aaahhh ... if only i could be a better planner and only have to go to the grocery store once a week instead of every time i decide to cook a meal!!

Haha I love it. But I do hate those rude people! I too was in a "peevish" mood this weekend and was reminded how I hate 1. movie talkers and popcorn crunchers 2. People who whistle 10 inches behind me while walking down an aisle. Love ya.
